The Meaning of Health
Updated: May 18, 2019
Health, as defined by The World Health Organization, is a complete state of mental, physical, and emotional well being. But what if I asked you to truly define the word "health" as it pertains to you?!

For me, the word "health" means many things. The absence of illness and disease, living in a space where I am able to deal with the various demands of my daily life, feeling strong and confident in my body, and nourishing my body with exactly what it needs to thrive.
I invite you on a journey to health and wellness.
One sure fire way to protect your health is through food choice. Believe it or not, the true purpose of food is NOT to provide us with comfort and joy, nor to provide us with something to do when we're bored, nor something to pair nicely with a Netflix binge. Food is meant to serve two main purposes within our bodies; nourishment and energy.
Nourishment from micronutrients, like vitamins and minerals, and energy from macronutrients, such as carbohydrates and protein. Think back to your last meal or snack; was it rich in vitamins for optimal cell function? Or rich in protein, essential for growth and repair? Next time you reach for a snack, do your body a favour, and ask yourself if this snack is going to lead you down the path towards optimal health.
The other major contributing factor to a person's health is DAILY movement. That's right, daily!! Our bodies were designed to move and move often! Unfortunately, we are not all destined to be the next Usain Bolt or Sidney Crosby, but guess what?? It doesn't matter!! Your body craves movement no matter how fast or how slow, so find some form of physical activity you enjoy ... and DO IT!! Every ... single ... day!!!
I invite you on a journey to health and wellness.
